I’m humbled and thrilled to announce that my story/essay/speech “Johnson Throws the Knuckleball” received a Best of the Net nomination. Tremendous thanks to Eric Miller, John Fea, Robert Earl Barham, Sarah Huffines, and all of Current’s staff. For the nomination, for publishing my stuff, for all the encouragement I’ve only ever received ever since I started sending stuff to Current. You can read it here, if you want. The piece originally came out at the very beginning of the 2024 baseball season and it’s nice that this nom comes as the season winds down.
Now, on this business of the knuckleball, here’s Phil Niekro baffling batters with his version of the pitch. And here’s a reel of just filthy, filthy knuckleballs. It’s frickin’ magic, man.
